About Spank! Youth Culture Online Spank! Youth Culture Online is a worldwide, online community for 14 to 24 year olds. Spank! launched 01 October 1995 and has changed a great deal since, moving from a traditional magazine format to a multifaceted online community. Focusing on youth issues, interests, and life, Spank! is an ever-evolving centre for youth. For some, Spank! is a soapbox, for others, a place to meet friends from across North America and around the world. Spank is a music critic, a fashion reviewer, a political activist, an overall youth culture expert, and is never afraid to voice an opinion. "This is more than just a youth forum. You form friendships, learn about global cultures and ideals, and sharpen your arguing skills. This is all done without the regular limits and boundaries of your location." - Smurf19 "I have met some of the coolest people ever on this site - it's more than just a chatroom or something. People actually know each other. Most Spank!ers who have been on Spank! for more than a month have talked to if not met other Spank!ers... So yes - that's pretty much it. More than just a website - the epitome of youth culture." - ~~eV~~ What's Inside Spank! has gone through seven versions since it's inception. We've added, removed, and changed features in the site to ever match the changes in youth and technology. Currently, Spank! is focused on two features: Youth Forums Spank's forums are extremely active! With over 14,000 new posts a week, and a huge amount archived, almost any issue regarding youth can be found - from the totally frivolous to the absolutely serious. We have sections on dating, fashion, homework, religion, sexuality, poetry, art, music, happiness, and more! Youth News Spank!'s youth news links are suggested by our users, and link to relevant issues, events, and stories that impact them. It's a collection of current events that have relevance to them and their peers. Who we are Spank! is a multitude of people from around the world. We are run by a combination of peer volunteer moderators (selected from the users that participate on the site) who ensure it remains focused on youth interests, and a small core group of people in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who keep this place supported with technology and time. Our co-founder, and now Publisher, Stephen Cassady can be found on the boards once and awhile under the name Canadaboy. Our major sponsor, and provider of technology is Lopedia, a company focused on collaboration and knowledge management through community. |
